We now have a slowing economy causing a rise in the number of business and home burglaries.  Businesses are ramping up their overall security protection by adding door sensors, motion detectors, and surveillance cameras to keep the burglars from hitting them.  This is causing the burglar to move to an easier target - the inner city neighborhoods and suburban areas.  The thought is the further you move out of town the less homeowners feel vulnerable to criminal burglary attacks - and the less likely they will be doing anything to really protect their homes.  In fact, there are still - believe it or not - homeowners who leave their doors and windows unlocked when they are not at home.

As a homeowner you should be especially vigilant in protecting your home so that you are not a victim of a home burglary or home intrusion.  The first thing to do is harden the perimeter of your home.  Make sure you are set up with a quality security system protecting doors, windows, with interior motion detectors.  Make sure you have strong locks and deadbolts, a solid core door or metal framed door, and reinforced hinges with long screws.  Also, have a perimeter warning notification system to alert you if someone enters your property during the day or night time.  This warning signal can give you time to respond if a home invasion is imminent.
