REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM OF A HOME INVASION! Courtesy of inboxnews.com
Home invasions are becoming a serious threat to citizens all across the USA and it doesn’t matter whether you life in a small town or large city. Everyone is susceptible to this crime if they are a homeowner. A lot of home invaders prey upon older citizens, women who live alone, or someone they may already know. Unlike a burglar who prefers to enter the home when no one is there, the home invader is fully prepared to confront the homeowner and that is where most assaults, serious injuries, or even deaths occurs.
How does the home invader get into your home? Believe it or not most home invasions are through the front door. (Most burglaries are also through the front door). The home invader may pose as delivery person, a utility worker, or someone who is in distress asking for help. If someone is banging on your door asking for help - don’t open the door. Ask what they need and tell them you are contacting 911 to get the local police authority here. Even if a female is asking for help…don’t open your door if you are not expecting someone as many times home invaders work in teams of twos. Remember tell the person you will contact 911 and have the proper authorities here shortly to help.
How do you prevent a home invasion? I’ll list a few preventive measures in my next post, but first and foremost - my recommendation is to get a home security system. What is holding you back - the cost? The cost is going to be a whole lot more if you experience a home invasion or burglary and have a tragic outcome.
You know you will pay somet kind of investment for a top quality security system. Think in terms of your security system as being a preventative measure. You are trying to deter the perpetrators from hitting your home. If a home invasion occurs and causes undue mental anguish to family members or even ends up killing you or a family member, the small investment you would have paid to potentially avoid this situation would seem small in comparison and well worth it.
Or if you end up killing someone who invades your home, that is something you will have to live with forever. Be proactive and install a good quality security system for your home . Click this link for a special Home Security discount.
Make your home the least appealing home in the neighborhood. Most home intruders/burglars are well aware of the top local alarm companies and will generally avoid attempting a breakin to those home with the security protection. Burglars may be totally deterred by a security alarm sign or window decals and move to the next easiest home.
However, if the home invader knows the victim (homeowner) and knows what is inside, a security system may not be a major factor. Especially if they are attempting to bust into your home when they know you may not have the security system activated. The majority of alarm owners don’t turn their alarm system on until they are ready for bed - which may be closer to 10-11:00 p.m .
However, if you are home alone (while your hubby is traveling) and it is after 9:00 p.m., set your alarm as you watch your late night TV. I might also suggest either having a wireless panic alarm that is connected to your security system nearby, or have some type of non-lethal personal protection close by.
