Let’s review so far what you’ve done to secure the perimeter of your home:

1.  You have secured all of the doors with solid strength hardwood or metals doors.
2.  You have reinforced the frames around the doors (if they needed it) and have installed  good-quality deadbolts.
3.  You have reinforced glass sliders with better locks.  To prevent them from being opened you’ve placed a heavy duty dowel rod or metal bar in the lower track.  Or you’ve installed upper/lower locks.
4.  The windows that needed it have been reinforced with a simple dowel rod to prevent the window from sliding or being lifted open.
5.  You have taken extra measures to ensure the phone lines are secure and not  vulnerable to be cut.

The last thing I would highly recommend is putting in a good-quality security system for your home.  Be sure to include a high decibel outside and an inside siren.  If your neighborhood has been infested with break ins, the loud noise will be a deterrent and alert neighbors and let the burglars know the police are on the way.

Be sure to put your warning stickers on the doors and windows and make sure to have your alarm yard signs placed in the front and back of your home.  They are easily visible from the street and most burglars don’t really want to deal with an alarm system, especially one with a highly recognizable name.  They can just as easily go down the street and hit a home without an alarm system.  You can have an excellent level of protection and coverage for your home without spending an arm and a leg. 

By being proactive, the upgrades and investment you make early in your home and family protection can save you money in the long run.  Plus you will have made your home a more difficult target causing the burglars to give up and find an easier targe!
